About Us...
Double L Bar Shooters club was founded by Dave Lohrey & Mike Lubell in May of 2009, to promote the sport of Cowboy Mounted Shooting in North Carolina. The club has now grown to over 200 members, expanding the shooting family ever more. Regularly new and advanced shooter clinics, training, gun safety, course management, equipment and advice for mounted shooters is offered- all in a family friendly atmosphere. Double L Bar Shooters holds competitive mounted shooting events around the state of North Carolina including Senator Bob Martin Agricultural Center in Williamston NC, South Eastern Agricultural Center in Lumberton NC. The club also supports smaller venues throughout North Carolina. These events are prominent shows in the Mid-Atlantic Region. There are usually 4 large shows each year and 3-4 smaller shows, as well as demonstrations and many practices and clinics at the Dave Lohrey Training Center in Franklinton NC. These events are promoted to competitors across the nation and locally, to draw a large crowd of spectators. Mounted shooting events are filled with family friendly entertainment for all those who are spectators. We often have vendors with trustworthy products used by shooters, nontraditional rodeo acts, and live music. Competitions and demonstrations have grown in popularity and built a reputation around Eastern North Carolina. Double L Bar is proud to partner with charitable organizations for fundraising; the Wounded Warriors Project, Special Olympics, therapeutic riding centers, and equine rescue leagues have benefited from Double L Bar events. The club has successfully raised over $35,000 for multiple organizations. Cowboy mounted shooting is a great benefit to competitors, spectators, and the community.
